Here goes the neighborhood! Peachtree Hills welcomed Chef Kevin Rathbun and his newest concept, an Italian steak bar with open arms. The menu draws inspiration from KRS, while infusing Italian dishes as well. The open floor plan is structured to encourage a communal and cozy atmosphere…perfect for sampling the numerous small plates and striking conversations with neighbors. Wood walls and glowing light surround guests who perch at a rectangular bar overlooking a lively outdoor patio complete with mature magnolia trees and an open hearth.

CACHE – Little Rock, AR

The Johnson Studio is proud to bring our design services to City of Little Rock in partnership with Rush Harding and talented Chef Payne to enhance the historic district with a dynamic space. We feel the addition of this restaurant with its display expo kitchen, and vibrant second floor bar situated on the main street will bring energy and add to the liveliness of the ongoing revitalization taking place. Guests will surely enjoy the exciting, yet comfortable environment, which distinctly highlights native materials of the region, and blends excellent cuisine and waterfront views from both street and second floor levels!

Capital City Country Club – Atlanta, GA

The historic Capital City Country Club has undergone a dramatic transformation of the existing Brookhaven Grill which includes updating two dining rooms and the addition of a bar/lounge. The renovation dramatically transformed a meeting room space into a gorgeous bar and lounge featuring stone walls, warm grays and rust colored lounge seating perfect for cocktails or dining. The formal dining room features existing architectural millwork highlighted by custom linear chandeliers, an updated color palette of soft greens and cream and stunning commissioned artwork. The family dining room perfectly complements those spaces and is highlighted by an expo kitchen feature and built in buffet.

La Grotta – Atlanta, GA

La Grotta, a local favorite in Atlanta, GA, has undergone a simplified transformation accentuating natural Italian materials such as terracotta brick and marble. The addition of brick arches in the entry hall highlight the grotto feel and draw attention to the wine display showcasing LaGrotta’s unique wine collection. Contemporary lighting highlights the warm, rustic space. Visit this landmark Atlanta restaurant and experience the transformation for yourself.

Del Frisco's Grille – Chestnut Hill, MA

Del Frisco Restaurant Group is bringing Del Frisco’s Grille to the suburbs of Boston. Inspired by the design of the Houston and Atlanta locations, lighting and finishes have evolved to have a character of their own. The exterior and interior feature walls are a charred wood finish with troweled concrete accents lending an industrial feel. Large scale custom lighting is made of blackened steel and the forms are modern and geometric. The two story space will be transformed to welcome patrons into a stairwell as they make their way up to the second floor bar. A communal table with a walnut slab top anchors the seating around the bar. A rectangular bar floats in the space enlivening the adjacent dining tables. The open kitchen is centered in the restaurant so diners have a view to the action wherever they sit. Large party booths line the perimeter of the dining room where groups can still feel part of the activity.

St. Andrew's Country Club – Boca Raton, FL

The redesign of St. Andrew’s Country Club in Boca Raton, FL has transformed the face of this distinguished luxury club. The Johnson Studio was charged with redesigning the Porte Cochere, the Lobby, the Bar/Lounge, the main restaurant/buffet area and the ballroom space of St. Andrew’s enhancing the member’s experience. A more modern yet classic approach was taken and a fresh new look was achieved with lacquered cream walls, custom rugs and lighting and new furnishings throughout. The overall atmosphere was transformed into a look of subtle luxury and sophistication with a focus on the beautiful golf course views beyond.

Legal Sea Foods – Braintree, MA

Adding to the abundant portfolio of outstanding Boston area sea food restaurants, Legal Sea Foods at South Shore Place draws inspiration from simplistic, vintage seafood restaurants. The restaurant features natural oak floors, white and blue hand crafted ceramic tiles, and walnut t-groove millwork planks. The focal point of the restaurant is the elliptical shaped bar made of polished zinc bar top and high gloss blue wood planking. The curved oyster bar features beautiful white carrara marble, walnut counter top, and industrial pendants. Guests can enjoy fresh shucked oysters directly from the custom ice display or sit front and center at an open expo kitchen.

Legal C Bar at Market Street – Lynnfield, MA

Legal C Bar at Market Street Lynnfield draws its casual design inspiration from the vintage fishing boats and all the intricate rigging and pulleys. Throughout the space, two-toned millwork walls are reminiscent of the hull of a wood boat. The centrally located bar includes a glowing, globe adorned over bar structure made of raw steel supports on metal wheels suspended from a continuous I-beam track holds the wood liquor shelf. Nautically inspired accents sprinkled throughout the space; gray concrete floor, sail cloth upholstery, ship light pendants suspended on pulleys and whimsical mermaids embellish the restroom entry doors. Patrons can enjoy many different dining experiences whether it’s a social meal at the communal table overlooking the bar and expo kitchen, an intimate booth seat, patio dining or a lite bite on a cushy sofa by the fire.

Juniper and Ivy – San Diego, CA

The design approach to Juniper & Ivy is to preserve as much of the existing architecture of the original building and the building’s place within the community’s rich history and life prior to the transformation. The new complimentary architectural and interior additions to the space will juxtapose against the existing…celebrate the future and new culinary life ahead with notable Chef Richard Blais. To achieve this, special conservation of the remaining concrete shell walls, and rustic saw tooth redwood ceiling, featuring the original skylights were implemented into the design. The new furniture and finishes will add an air of refinement to the space reflecting a polished, yet industrial environment. Key elements such as the expo kitchen, special two-story overbar feature at the bar, plus the custom wine display set the tone for a fun, exiting dining atmosphere nestled in the heart of the Little Italy community of San Diego.

Magnolia's Restaurant – Charleston, SC

In celebration of the 25th anniversary, The Johnson Studio, who worked with Hospitality Management Group on both Blossom and Cypress Lowcountry Grille, has designed a refresh to Magnolia’s interior. Recognizing that Magnolia’s was at the forefront of Charleston’s well-respected restaurant scene, the design references the City’s rich culture and respects the feel of one of Charleston’s most beloved restaurants. The entry and bar feature a classic black slate floor and some retouches to the bar and host area. The original joist ceiling is being exposed to reveal beautiful wood joists original to the building. The heart pine that is currently featured on the floor and millwork, will also be used to add an over bar shelf and liquor display. The back wall of the dining room will featured a panelized and antique mirror wall with new sconces and an upholstered banquette. The updated color palette is a mixture of soft, sophisticated textures set against the original backdrop of the historic architecture. New furnishings are current and elegant without be trendy. Guests may recognize the updated space but still will feel like they are in their favorite spot for world class cuisine.

LX – Boston, MA

Opening Winter 2014


LX is the newest concept from Legal Sea Foods located at Millennium Place, a high-end residential condo building in the historic Downtown Crossing neighborhood of Boston, MA. Sleek black brick paired with glowing amber glass creates a moody atmosphere, while luxe, tufted settees and banquettes provide the perfect setting for cocktails and small plates. Other design features include a wine wall doubling as an impressive back bar and an open expo kitchen.
