1587 Prime

1587 Prime is more than a restaurant; it is an immersive celebration of Kansas City’s passion and pride. Working in partnership with Noble 33 and professional football players Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, The Johnson Studio reimagined the language of the game through the lens of fine dining.

Guests arrive through a dramatic tunnel that evokes the anticipation of players stepping onto the field, culminating in a glowing refrigerated meat display—the symbolic light at the end of the tunnel—before entering a warm, vibrant dining space. Chiefs-inspired red, white, and gold thread through the interiors, while brass floor inlays recall yard markers and banquette upholstery evokes the grid of the field.

At the center of the restaurant, a sweeping 20-seat bar and live music stage anchor the energy. Millwork patterned with deconstructed football shapes wraps the bar front and TV wall, while a sculptural overbar uses textured glass that mirrors the grain of leather. A glowing grand staircase at the heart of the space leads to semi-private and private dining rooms accented with playbook-inspired tile inlays and a dramatic “flag on the play” chandelier.

Every detail was carefully crafted to balance playful nods to football with elevated design, creating a modern American steakhouse that is bold, sophisticated, and distinctly Kansas City.
